PESHAWAR Participants at a seminar, organised by Pasban Pakistan and Dr Fozia Sidiqui, sister of Dr Aafia Sidiqui, regretted the governments 'indifference regarding the safe and early release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from the American notorious detention cell. Addressing on the occasion, Pasban Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor said that the politicians and generals were least mindful of the plight of the daughter of the nation. He said that if the situation prevailed the entire nation would come to the road to rescue Dr Aafia. JI provincial leader Shabir Ahmad Khan accused that the ousted usurper Pervez Musharraf and his allies wrote a new chapter in the history by selling the daughter of the nation to the aliens for the sake of dollars. Pasban provincial President Hafiz Ilyas Qureshi, former provincial minister and JUI leader Dr Zahir Shah, Tehreek-e-Insaf PROVINCIAL PRESIDENT Dr Zahid, Nazim Islami Jamiat Talaba Hamidul Haq Haqqani, Khateb Masjid Muhabat Khan Maulana Yousaf Qureshi, Hussain Taj of Pakistan Awami Party, Javid Jamal of Peoples Party Shaheed Bhutoo, Dr Salim Jan, Pasban leader Ali and others also addressed. Dr Faozia sister of Dr Aafia said that whenever she met with the people, she got encouragement, while whenever she met rulers, bureaucrats, and politicians she was disappointed. She maintained that Dr Aafia became a symbol of deprivation and frustrations, and asked the international organisations working in USA and Europe for environmental protection if they made any effort for the release of an innocent Pakistani detained in the US cell. She asked Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ambassador Hussain Haqqani, that at one hand they consoled the mother of Aafia, while on the other hand they did not bother to take up the issue with the US. Pasban Pakistan president Altaf said that they had started protest demonstrations across the country for the release of Dr Aafia, and warned that if the rulers were not awakened, people would kicked them off from the parliament. Meanwhile, Jamat-e-Islami district Peshawar women wing and Islami Jamiat Talba condemned the US government for painting a wrong and illegal case against Dr Aafia Siddiqui and confined her along with her children for a long time. Prof Mateen asked the rulers to take seriously the issue of Dr Aafia by sensing the situation and play their positive role in release of the daughter of the nation.
