Int'l workshops at UHS

LAHORE - Two international workshop spread over 8 days from 17 to 25 May, 2010 are being conducted at University of Health Sciences by a team of facilitators and trainers from Ireland headed by Macartan Hughes Director National Ambulance Services Ireland, Shane Knox Chief Instructors, Member pre-hospital emergency care council Ireland and Dr Khurram Shahzad General Secretary DRIP Ireland. The main objectives of these workshops are to train participants from all the provinces of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir in the field of pre-hospital emergency, and in hospital emergency care. These workshops help team building among doctors, nurses, paramedics, rescue workers by welding them work together to save life in golden minute and golden hour of any emergency. The eight days long workshops were inaugurated by Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Prof MH Mubbashar. Dr Haq Nawaz Bharwana, course coordinator, Dr Rizwan Naseer, Director General Rescue 1122 and Faisal Edhi, Edhi Ambulance Services were also present at the inauguration. UHS Vice Chancellor Prof Mubbashar emphasised the need to carve our own indigenous programmes suiting our environments in collaboration with facilitators from Ireland. He also said university would develop diplomas and masters program in emergency medicine in collaboration with DRIP - NASC - PHECC Ireland, in the near future. The two different workshops are being attended by 20 participants as master trainers from all over Pakistan in EFR (Emergency First Responder) and by another 22 participants from Rescue 1122 on CFR (Cardiac First Responder).
