LAHORE Shaukat Javed and Khawar Shah have been unanimously re-elected as president and secretary general of the Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) respectively for a period of four years. The general body meeting of the PFB was held at the National Hockey Stadium here which, besides electing president and the secretary general, also elected Col. Rana Shujaat Ali (Army) as the senior vice president. The meeting also elected Mohammed Mohsin Khan (Sindh), Wisal Mohammed (Khyber Pakhtoonwa) and Salman (Wapda) as vice presidents of the PFB. Arif Ali (Punjab) will be the finance secretary of the federation. The meeting also elected Haider Khan (Balochistan), Javed Kamran (Umpiring association) and Syed Fakhar Shah (Coaching association) as members of the executive body. Three ladies members of the executive body, as per charter of the IOC, will be nominated by the president Shaukat Javed after consultation with the four provinces and Islamabad. Syed Fakhar Shah and Asif Iqbal Khan have been also elected as executive director and director development of the PFB but they would have no right of vote in the general council. The meeting also elected Ms. Zubia Rubab Malik as chairperson of Pakistan Women Baseball Association. Meanwhile, the president PFB informed the house that the federation would organise the South Asian Baseball Championship in December this year in which teams from India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh will take part. He said the Federation had engaged a Korean coach for a period of two years to train the local players. Shaukat said the PFB would also provide wooden baseball bats, balls and gloves to the four provinces and Islamabad. Maj. Afzal from Pakistan Olympic Association and Dr. Waheed Mughal from Pakistan Sports Board attended the election meeting as observers.
