2 wanted criminals killed in shootout

LAHORE– Two gunmen who were shot dead during an alleged police encounter, which took place in Manawan area after Wednesday midnight, have been identified as the most wanted criminals, involved in murders, gang-rape cases, and armed robberies.
Police said on Thursday that both the gunmen, identified as Ramazan alias Jani Oodh and Mustafa Oodh, the residents of Faisalabad, were proclaimed offenders and wanted to the police in more than 100 cases of murders, kidnappings, armed robberies, and robberies-cum-rape. Police also claimed that the criminals were members of an inter-district gang as they had been committing heinous crimes in different districts of the province.
“They killed at least six people on offering resistance during armed robberies. They were desperate criminals as they had become a symbol of terror,” an officer of the Crimes Investigations Agency (CIA) police said. The policemen remain unhurt in the incident.  However, sources claimed that the CIA police staged a fake encounter to close the chapter of the hardened criminals as they had already been arrested by the police.
