FAISALABAD - The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & industry (FCCI) expressed concern over another hike of Rs2.21 per unit in electricity tariff and long hour loadshedding. The frequent hike in the tariff of electricity has collapsed the industrial sector and given rise to unemployment. It will put negative impact on exports as well as local production, said FCCI President Muzammil Sultan and Vice President Rehan Naseem Bharara here on Thursday. They also elaborated that, government is not serious to generate the electricity from installed power generation units, because there is 23000 MW installed capacity but only 10000 MW is being generated.  They warned official to stop this practice because closure of thousands of industrial units are creating violence in the workers and law and order situation in the country too. 

They urged the government functionaries to allocate funds in the forthcoming budget for new power projects and construction of new dams to generate cheap and sufficient electricity. They also demanded to start Thar coal power project rapidly to overcome shortage of gas and electricity. The Government should make business friendly policies for the revival of industrial sector of the country they added.  Moreover, economic well being is a slogan of democratic society.  Unemployment, price hiking and industrial closures always give rise to deplorable condition of Law & Order and anarchy.  Therefore, government reset its priorities regarding provision of electricity to the industry according to the ground realities.

Hike in prices had increased cost of doing business and suffer the exports. FCCI demanded Uninterruptible supply of electrify for industries and trade centres also.
