Govt snubbed over power tariff hike

KARACHI – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Thursday came down hard on the PPP-led government for compounding the problems of the masses by regularly increasing prices of utility items, such as electricity and petrol. Talking to PTI leaders and journalists in Karachi, PTI Central Vice President Muhammad Haroon Najeeb said there was no one in the Parliament that could raise voice for the poor people. Showing serious concerns over the government’s move to increase power tariff, the PTI leader said, “It is an insane move. The government knows the fact that the purchasing power of the people has weakened substantially.”Through increasing power tariff by Rs1.25 per unit, the government had fired another drone on the people, said Najeeb.
