PESHAWAR - Activists of Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) University Campus staged a protest demonstration here at main Saddar road on Thursday against the killing of a student and their party worker in the Punjab University.

The protesting students led by IJT Nazim Abid Ullah and offices bearers were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans condemning the killing and against the vice chancellor of Punjab University. The infuriated protesting student activists also chanted full-throated slogans against the murder.

The protesting students asked the Punjab government to immediately arrest the killers of Owais Aqeel, who was killed in a clash with students inside the Punjab University campus.

Addressing the gathering, IJT leader Abid accused the vice chancellor Punjab University of supporting and giving accommodation to criminal elements inside the campus, and termed the VC responsible for failing to take in time action against the killers.

He asked the government to strictly prohibit arms culture in educational institutions especially inside universities across the country.

He demanded of the Governor Punjab, who is also chancellor of all the public sector universities, to initiate an impartial inquiry into the incident.

The protestors also demanded the removal of the VC and making him part of the inquiry for failing to arrest the killers and maintain academic discipline, otherwise threatened of launching a series of protest demos across the country ‘if the culprits were not arrested.
