MULTAN - The Monitoring and Surveillance team of Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) has caught hundreds of power pilferers during ongoing financial year and imposed fine worth over Rs9.5 million. Mepco sources disclosed that out of total, fine money worth over Rs5.5 million was recovered from the power thieves and deposited to national exchequer. Sources further disclosed that the team caught 154 power thieves during the month of April and imposed fine worth over Rs1.1 million out of which Rs0.5 million was recovered.

MEPCO COMPLETES ELECTRIFICATION OF 13736 VILLAGE AT RS9B: Meanwhile, Mepco sources said that the company accomplished electrification of 13736 villages in 13 districts of South Punjab at a cost of over Rs9 billion during the last four years. The schemes were launched under People’s Works Programme-1 & 11, Khushal Pakistan Programme-1 & 11, Model Village Electrification Programme and Choolistan Development Authority’s schemes.
