KARACHI – In a desperate bid to corner the ruling PPP in its political fiefdom, former premier Mian Nawaz Sharif has formed a nine-member body of senior PML-N leaders to contact the nationalist parties and other anti-PPP political groups in the province of Sindh. According to sources, the committee, comprising former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Jatoi, Ameer Buksh Bhutto, son of Mumtaz Bhutto, PML-N Sindh secretary general Saleem Zia, Irfanullah Khan Marwat, Dr Bahadur Dehri, Ismail Rahu, Imdad Chandio, Marvi Memon and Raja Ansari, was constituted during Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to Sindh. Liaquat Jatoi has been appointed as its coordinator. The sources further said Mian Nawaz Sharif would give the final approval to any entrant to the party’s fold. The PML-N chief’s consecutive visits to Sindh are part of the party’s strategy to corner the PPP in its political bastion.The PML-N has been struggling to contact political heavyweights in Sindh to make them join the party. Nevertheless, the majority of strong political families are still reluctant to join any group. When contacted, PML-N Sindh spokesman Dr Taj Mohammad said Mian Nawaz Sharif had formed the committee to coordinate with politicians and political parties.He said Nawaz met with several political leaders during his visit to Sindh that proved that the people of Sindh were with the PML-N.Taj Mohammad further said that the committee would meet on Friday for the first time.
