PESHAWAR - Provincial Police Officer Muhammad Akbar Khan Hoti has directed police highups to adopt stringent security measures and preempt and prevent any untoward incident well in time.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting of law and order at CPO Peshawar on Thursday at the Additional IGP headquarters.

Khalid Masood, Additional IGP Operations Liaqat Ali khan, Commandant Elite Force Tariq Javed, Chief Capital City Police Imtiaz Altaf and all DIGs Region attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in the province and various directives were issued to the participants for ensuring peace and tranquility in the province. The IGP directed the DIGs Region to call a meeting of their police officers in their respective regions and pinpoint the difficulties and shortcomings in the security apparatus and put more effective efforts and show better policing by overcoming these hurdles.

They were further directed to strictly adhere to merit and gave posting to those who are capable enough to deliver to the people and bring visible positive change in peace in the region.

They were also directed to perform their duty within the ambit of law, register all cases without any burking and delay, investigate cases on scientific lines and make their net working strong and effective against law breakers.

The police chief made it clear that the Elite Force was a striking force and they cannot be deputed as bodyguard with anybody as it is tantamount to spoiling the professional capabilities of jawans and directed the commandant elite fore to assign the elite jawans of special task for which they have been trained.

All DIGs were also directed to make transfers and postings of police in their respective region strictly on merit.

They were further directed to tighten the noose around the neck of wanted culprits and bring them to book at the earliest.
