LAHORE – Punjab University Academic Staff Association has condemned the Islami Jamiat Tulba’s attack on three senior teachers of the varsity.

During a general body meeting of the association on Thursday, the teachers expressed their resentment and condemned the IJT attack on three senior teachers on Wednesday last. They also passed resolution unanimously, demanding arrest of attackers.

The meeting was presided over by Prof Amir Sarwar, president PU ASA.  The teachers also demanded of the PU VC to get evacuated Khalid Bin Waleed Hall and convert in girls’ hostel. The teachers announced boycott of classes on Friday. Teachers also boycotted the classes on Thursday and all examinations were also cancelled in PU in response of manhandling by IJT activists with teaches. They said the future strategy would be decided after meeting with Shahbaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, a meeting of faculty members of Punjab University Department of Chemistry was held under the chairmanship of Director Prof Dr Makshoof Athar. The meeting condemned the manhandling incident by IJT activists with Chairman Department of Physics Prof Dr Shoukat Ali, Dr Ehsan Sharif and Dr Ijaz Ahmad. The faculty members demanded of the varsity administration and the Punjab Government to arrest and punish the culprits involved in the incident at the earliest so that such incidents could be avoided in future.
