Two policemen killed in Quetta attack

QUETTA - Unidentified armed assailants gunned down two police personnel and wounded two others after ambushing a patrol van in Eastern Bypass area of Quetta on Thursday morning.Patrol van of Brewery police station was on its routine tour of duty when armed men opened indiscriminate fire on it with sophisticated weapons. Resultantly, two police personnel Sanaullah and Murtaza succumbed to their injuries instantly while Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hussain and Constable Din Muhammad received multiple bullet wounds.Police and other personnel of Frontier Corps rushed to the site soon after the incident and moved the injured and deceased to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital. “The condition of an injured is serious and he has been referred to Combined Military Hospital for further treatment,” sources in hospital said.Police and personnel of Frontier Corps cordoned off the area and started a search operation to round up the culprits. “The assailants were riding a motorbike and swiftly escaped from the scene after committing the crime,” a police official said, adding that the attack appears to be an incident of target killing, however, armed groups could be behind the incident.It may be recalled here that CID SSP Shahnawaz was gunned down in Satellite Town area of Quetta one week ago and banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had claimed responsibility for the murder.Meanwhile, Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani strongly condemned the killing of police personnel at Eastern Bypass.
