HAFIZABAD- The district police arrested 222 anti-social elements and recovered 35 hand grenades, 33 Kalashnikovs, 43 rifles, 38 guns, five revolvers, 121 pistols and 1,719 rounds of ammunitions from their possession during the past four months.

Talking to the media persons here on Saturday, District Police Officer Shaker Hussain Dawar said that the police had launched a vigorous campaign against drug-peddlers during the corresponding period and rounded up 333 drug-peddlers. He said that the police had seized 68 kilogram of heroin, 16 kilogram of opium, 28 kilogram of charas and 2,890 litres of liquor from their possession.  The DPO informed that the police had smashed 15 working stills, adding that the police arrested 615 proclaimed offenders and 440 court deserters during the period in question.

MINOR KNOCKED DOWN: A minor student of Tahli Goraya was knocked down by a speeding truck on Hafizabad-Pindi Bhattian Road. 12-year-old Muhammad Ramzan was crossing road near Tahli Goraya when he was hit by a speeding truck.

He received multiple injuries and died on the spot.

The villagers blocked the road for about one hour to protest against the truck driver who managed to escape from the scene.
