LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked Chinese government and leadership for handing over funds of Rs 33 billion to Pakistan for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project.

He said that despite propaganda, speculations and doubts, provision of installment of Rs33 billion for the project by Exim Bank of China reflects full confidence of China in the leadership and policies of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, as well as Punjab government.

He said that some opponents of project tried to create uncertainty, however, Chinese government and leadership have proved their unprecedented friendship with Pakistan by issuing funds for the project.

Shehbaz Sharif said that completion of Orange Line Metro Train project will usher in a new era of friendship between Pakistan and China and this project will reflect unswerving relations between the two countries.

Separately, talking to the PML-N legislators, the chief minister said the journey of hope, peace, progress and prosperity initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be completed successfully.

The PML-N believes in selfless service to the people, which stand for true politics, he said adding, every step of the government is towards progress of the country and prosperity of the people.

The chief minister said Pakistan today is economically stronger than the past and it will be even more peaceful, safer, developed and prosperous by the time PML-N completed the tenure in 2018.  He stressed on indiscriminate accountability of the corrupt, those who got their loans written off and looted the national wealth if country needs to be taken ahead.

He said that Pakistan is standing on an important juncture of history and this is not the time for politics of personal interests. He said that it is strange that those having offshore companies are raising hue and cry over this issue. He said that politically conscious people of Pakistan cannot be hoodwinked by such elements.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the result of recent by-election in Peshawar is a lesson for those indulging in negative politics. He said that people want progress and prosperity of the country and now there is no room for negative politics.
