Over-speeding kills student, wounds three

Rawalpindi - A university student died while his four class fellows sustained burn injuries yesterday when two vehicles caught fire after ramming into each other near Ayub Park, informed police.

Rescue 1122 shifted the injured students to Burn Unit of Holy Family Hospital (HFH) for treatment. The deceased was identified as Haider Ali whereas the injured included Ashfaq, Zubair, Hanza and Aamir.

According to police, the incident took place at 10:30am bear Ayub Park on GT Road when the five students were heading towards their university in a corolla car (IDM-2876). The car went out of control because of over speeding and smashed with another vehicle Vigo (ASG-477), police said. As a result, both vehicles caught fire and one student was charred whereas four others sustained burn injuries. Rescue 1122 was called in which shifted the three students to HFH. However, one student was sent home after providing medical treatment by Rescuers.

The condition of three students was stated to be out of danger.

Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Morgah Malik Kausar, when contacted, confirmed the incident saying the car crashed with another vehicle moving on other side of road owing to over speed. He added that the students’ car caught fire after the gas of AC leaked. The fire also caught the Vigo, he said.

On the other hand, the funeral payer of Haider Ali was held at Race Course.
