KASUR-Three dacoits wanted in more than 55 cases of heinous crimes were alleged killed by their accomplices during two shootouts occurred in separate areas here the other day.

According to DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a citizen named Faisal made a call at 15 late the other night. He informed the police that four bandits, riding motorbikes, snatched a motorbike, cellphone and cash from him on Shahbaz Road and fled towards Zakki Adda located on Ferozpur Road. On information, the police set up a picket at Steel Bagh Morr. Meanwhile, four persons on two motorbikes opened indiscriminate fire on the police when they attempted to stop them. The accused fled away towards Piruwala Road under the cover of fire and took different positions. They opened fire on police again, which the lawmen retaliated and a shootout ensued. When the firing stopped, the police went forward and found two of the dacoits lying on the spot. Upon search one was dead and another injured critically while two others succeeded in fleeing under the cover of darkness. The injured bandit told the police that both of them were shot by their accomplices.

The police recovered two motorbikes and two pistols from their possession. The injured accused was identified as Rehan alias Rehana while the dead as Majid alias Majidi. The injured was shifted to hospital but he also succumbed to his injuries on the way. According to police, the deceased dacoits were wanted in more than 55 cases of dacoities, robberies and theft. The Saddr Police have registered a case against the fleeing accused and formed special teams to arrest them.

In another incident, another dacoit wanted in more than 10 cases of robbery, dacoity, murder and illegal weapons was shot dead by his accomplices in Chuha Jharmat Village here.

According to police, two suspected motorcyclists were intercepted during snap-checking near Noorpur canal. The police recovered a pistol from one of the suspects identified as Sanaullah alias Papu while the other fled away.

During initial interrogation, he told the police that his accomplices were hiding at a place near Chuha Jharmat Village. A police team escorted the accused to the place. As the police reached the spot, they were confronted by intense firing from the outlaws holed up in the area. As a result, Sanaullah got injured critically while his accomplices fled away under the cover of darkness. The injured suspect was shifted to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
