TOBA TEK SINGH-The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has demanded transfer of adjacent state land to its sub-campus here and early construction of roads leading to it for development of the region.

The UAF vice chancellor urged the local leadership to assist the university in transferring the adjacent state land to the university. The sub-campus of University of Agriculture Faisalabad will emerge as an independent university and bring the sweet fruits of prosperity and development in the region, he said.

Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan was addressing a briefing on academic, research and infrastructure development of the sub-campus on Monday.

The VC added that in developed countries, universities and sub-campuses work as catalysts for development and become industrial hubs generating economic activities in the region.

He vowed to see the sub-campus a catalyst of change and urged the political and administrative leadership of the district to pave the way for construction of Khekha Bangla road and also to get an interchange of under construction Karachi-Lahore-Peshawar motorway at Rajana Road near the varsity.

He was of the view that the university had brought technical and practical knowledge to the doorsteps of the locals to enhance the profit in poultry, citrus, horticultural and cotton crops. He said that in recent past, three international delegations visited the sub-campus and pledged to make their collaborations and good global networking.

The meeting was also attended by MNA Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, MPAs Mian Muhammad Rafique and Chaudhry Amjad Ali and DCO Amir Ijaz Akbar. The MNA praised the role of university leadership in shaping the varsity sub-campus with state-of-the-art facilities and bringing federal and provincial resources to uplift the campus.

He expressed his full support to the university in making the campus more vibrant and hub of academic, research and commercial activities in the district. He said that infrastructure development speaks volume about his commitment and dedication.

MPA Rafique said that personalities and leaders will diminish in the future but the institutions will remain the memorial of such personalities as made efforts for such initiatives.

The DCO assured the VC that he will do everything for the uplift of the sub campus and to meet its needs. He pledged to transfer the adjacent state land to the university. Sub-Campus principal Dr Pervaiz Akhtar briefed the meeting about academic and research activities of the sub-campus. Dr Shahidur Rehman also briefed the poultry farmers about new information communication computer programmes that facilitates poultry farmers.
