Islamabad - World Nursing Day was observed here at a private hospital yesterday.

Addressing a seminar, Chief Executive Officer Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital Dr Shaukat Ali Bangash said that nursing is a noble profession which helps save many lives every day. He regretted, “We are living in a society where nursing staff has never been given the respect they deserve.” He said that nursing is a noble professional and community should respect nurses.

Addressing the seminar organised at Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital, Chief Operating Officer Sadaqat Ali Baig said that nursing is one of the most recognizable human faces of healthcare and an integral part of social well-being.

Other speakers said that nurses are engaged in innovative activities on a daily basis resulting in significant improvements in the health of patients, population and health systems and their contributions should have been a fundamental source of progress for healthcare systems around the world.

A colourful function was also arranged to pay rich tribute to nursing staff. The function started with recitation of the Holy Quran and a song was also sung for the nurses. A painting competition was also part of the function and nurses took interest in this.

A large number of nurses from various hospitals of the twin cities, medical officers, civil society members and media representative attended the function.
