LAHORE Faisalabad-born winger Naeem Ullah struck last-ditch winner to provide three full points to PMC Athletico Club Faisalabad as two more matches were decided in Pakistan Premier Football League at Karachi on Tuesday. PMC edged out NBP 2-1 at Korangi Baloch Stadium, Sharafi. Meanwhile, HBL failed to recover and suffered 0-1 defeat at the hands PEL at Shadab Football Stadium, F.B Area. NBP had dominated the early stages of tense, highly-absorbing tussle against the team, playing PPFL for the third time. Abdul Aziz-led bankers had a fine start when Yasir Sabir went up field and squeezed the ball past keeper Muhammad Afzal after Muhammad Ashraf scored goal. NBP kept their 25th minute lead alive till interval and were well on the way to achieve three points. But PMC, who drew the same rival 1-1 on September 12 on Punjab territory, staged remarkable recovery and stunned NBPs keeper Yasir bin Younus and other defenders with two sparkling strikes in the 79th and 90th minute when two Faisalabad-born players showed effectiveness in front of the cage. Midfielder Asif raced onto Muneer Ahmeds defence-splitting pass to restore parity and it was left to Naeem Ullah to become hero with his first goal of the event. NBP completed 22 matches and produced 22 points so far. On the other hand, PMC managed to pencil 21 points in 20 matches. HBL rued missed chances as they went down to PEL 0-1 on lovely surface of Shadab Football Stadium. After a listless first half, dominated by two goal keepers - Aqeel Ahmed (PEL) and Syed Dilawar Hussain (HBL) - with positive saves, the ball possession strategy was occupied by Lahore outfit and their fast-moving spearhead Asmat Ullah did the damage in bankers territory. He latched onto a stray ball and clipped the ball past advancing Dilawar in the 60th minute to give PEL valuable 1-0 win and three points. It was ninth goal for Bannu-born Asmat and 30 in all for PEL (WAPDA managed 45 goals so far, followed by PIA 40, Navy 35, PEL 30). Asghar Anjum-coached PEL pocketed 29 points from 20 matches while HBL collected 26 points in 22 matches.
