A cylinder of a mini-bus burst with a big bang in Karachi on Sunday, killing a person and injuring five others.

The incident took place when a mini-bus was being filled with CNG at a filling station on Abul Hassan Isfahani Road area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The blast was heard in far-flung areas of the city.

Officials said the explosion took place due to the out of order gas cylinder which exploded during the filling.

The blast was so powerful that it damaged rear side of the bus, three other vehicles, shattering windowpanes of nearby buildings and partially damaging the filing station.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot and initiated operation.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where condition of the two victims was stated critical.
