LAHORE - A contempt plea was filed on Saturday in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against President Asif Ali Zardari, maintaining thatthe president addresseda political rally in Malakwalin violation of the Supreme Court ruling in Asghar Khan case.

Petitioner Muneer Ahmed stated that President Zardari continued his political engagements despite the Supreme Court ruling in Asghar Khan casein which the apex court had declared that the president should not be favouring any political party. The petitioner said that the address of the president was also a violation of LHC's verdict on holding of dual office. He maintained that president's political activities would affect the general elections.

The petitioner requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against President Zardari.
