HAFIZABAD - All precautionary measures have been taken by the district administration to maintain peace and tranquillity during Muharram.  Acting DCO Sohail Ahmad Khan and DPO Waqas Nazir said this while leading a flag-march in the city here the other day.

Addressing the gathering, they said that mischievous elements would be dealt with iron hand and district administration and police had been put on red alert to maintain peace. They said that Islam taught tolerance, forbearance and sacrifice and Muslims of all sects particularly Ulema of all schools of thought should play their vital role for maintaining peace and harmony.

They advised them not to utter a single word which might injure the sentiments of other sect. Those who participated in the flag march included Saddr Police DSP Tariq Warraich, Rescue 1122 Emergency Officer Sibghat Ullah, In-charge Shahzad Aslam and a large number of policemen.

Meanwhile, addressing the print and electronic media representives, DCO Noman Hafeez advised them to show responsibility while submitting their reports and avoid sensationalism.

In the meanwhile, Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Sibghat Ullah cancelled leaves of all personnel and put the staff on high alert.
