SADIQABAD - The newly appointed executive district officer (education) urged the government employees especially teachers to fulfill their national responsibility to promote quality education across the country.

He was talking to a clerks' delegation that was led by All Pakistan Clerks Association office-bearers M Ameen and Mehboob Alam.

EDO Shaukat Ali said that the clerks were like backbone of the public sector offices therefore they should utilise their full energy to better the departments and help increase literacy rate.

He said that for the promotion of education, government officials, teachers and clerks should convince the parent to get their children admitted to schools and if possible they should bear the poor children's education expenses.

They should make the parents feel that education is very important for the progress of the country, he maintained.

Every citizen should play his role to spread the light of education across the country. he said. He said that the Education Department was well acquainted with the clerks' issues.

He added that their problems will be resolved at the earliest.

He urged the government employees to ensure their attendance in their respective departments and work diligently. Earlier, the Apca office-bearers informed the EDO of their demands.
