A MAN who tried to rob a taxi driver was arrested after leaving his wallet on the floor of the cab. Terry Smith, 42, who got into the taxi near Daytona Beach, Florida, asked to sit in the front seat because he was feeling sick. He then made conversation with driver Marc Bruzzese, before trying to steal his wallet and phone as he was asked to pay. When Bruzzese refused to hand over his belongings, Smith got out of the car and ran off. The driver decided not to report the crime as he couldn’t identify his perpetrator, until he discovered that the careless robber had left his own wallet on the floor of the car. Police arrested Smith later that day, and charged him with attempted robbery, battery, petty theft and driving with a suspended license. DS
