JHANG - At least eight people including a woman and three minor girls were killed while 16 others sustained multiple injuries in separate mishaps occurred in different areas of Jhang during last 24 hours.

In accident that took place on Jhang-Faisalabad Road near Mochiwala Police Station claimed four lives. As per detail, six Textile Mills workers were returning home on a motorcycle rickshaw. When they reached near Mochiwala, the motorcycle rickshaw collided with a truck LS-1811 coming from the opposite direction due to fog. Resultantly, three passengers of the rickshaw identified as Afzal, Azhar and Waris, resident of Chak 216/JB situated in the remit of Mochiwala Police died on the spot while three others including Jaffer, Manzoor Hussain and Faisal received critical injuries.

Rescue 1122 took the injured to hospital where one of them also succumbed to his injuries.

In another accident that happend on Jhang-Bhakkar Raod near Athara Hazari, a speeding passenger bus collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction due to fog. Resultantly three bus passengers namely, Pervaiz, son of Dlmir, Shakeel, son of Ibrar and Asghar, son of Manzoor sustained serious injuries and were admitted to DHQ Hospital.

Similarly, two minor girls died while playing in a local park. As per detail, two cousins, 5-year-old Muskan, daughter of Abdul Razaq and 4-year-old Noor Fatima, daughter of Zulfiqar, a resident of Mohalla Gulabwala were playing in Eidgah Park situated near their house. In the meantime heavy iron gate of the park fell over them. Resultantly, both the minor sustained critical wounds and died on the way to hospital.

It is to be noted that the park has been built only a few month ago and it appears that the use of low standard material in the construction of walls and gate has resulted in the death of the two minor girls. The residents of the Mohalla lodged a protest against the contractor and demanded the Punjab CM to take immediate notice of the incident and order strict action against the responsible officials.

Meanwhile, a man gunned down her 10-year-old niece and injured his sister-in-law over a land dispute. Ghulam Mustafa, his wife Kaneez Bibi and his son Hanif along with their three accomplices entered the house of his brother Murtaza and opened indiscriminate firing. Resultantly, 10-year-old Saima, daughter of Murtaz died on the spot while her mother Pathani Bib received critical wounds and was admitted to hospital. The reason behind the incident is said to be a land dispute.

In another accident on Jhang-Faisalabad Road near Adda Madhani Jutt claimed a life. As per detail, a Lahore-bound passenger bus on the way to Layyah overturned due to speeding near Adda Madhani Jutt.

Resultantly, Khaton Bibi, wife of Taj Din, a resident of Layyah died instantly and another 10 people sustained serious injuries. Rescue 1122 rushed the spot and evacuated the injured to hospital.
