LAHORE (PR): The electricity and Wapda workers observed ‘protest day’ across the country on Tuesday under the aegis of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union.

They pledged to continue their struggle against the proposed privatization of the most profitable national electricity companies including FESCO and held mass protest march and rallies in all major cities of the country. At Lahore, the workers carried out protest march from Bakhtiar Labour Hall which was participated by the thousands of workers. A mass rally at Aiwan-e-labal was addressed by the various trade union leaders including Khurshid Ahmed, general secretary of the Union.

In a resolution passed by the rally, it was demanded of the government to hold meaningful dialogue with the union otherwise the employees would continue their protests.
