LAHORE  - Panic gripped the Quaid-e-Azam industrial zone yesterday morning after fire broke out in one of the factories.

After six-hour long operation, firefighters managed to put out the blaze which reduced to ashes goods, machinery, and valuables. However, no casualty was reported.

An official said dozens of firefighters and rescuers reached the site and launched the operations as the blaze broke out in a garments factory. The fire quickly engulfed the three-storey building and then it spread to an adjacent warehouse. Several firefighting units took part in the operation which lasted for no less than six hours.

Authorities were investigating what the caused the fire.

Early this month, at least 45 young workers died and over 100 pulled alive out of the rubble after a four-storey factory collapsed on them in the Sundar industrial estate.
