KARACHI: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday stated that current economic situation of Pakistan is quite stable.

Addressing the launching of Islamic Index in Karachi, Dar said the Government is focusing on promotion of Islamic Banking in the country.

He said Islamic Index will have positive impact on stock exchange and now the business of shares can be carried out according to Sharia.

He said there are numerous opportunities of investment in Islamic Banking in Pakistan.

Ishaq Dar said foreign investors are taking interest in investing in Pakistan due to prudent policies being pursued by the Government.

He said the government did not seek any foreign assistance for earthquake victims and ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan tribal region.

To a question, Dar said fulfillment of energy needs is vital for country’s progress and the projects to generate 14,000 megawatts of electricity are underway.
