LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Begum Zakia Shah Nawaz Tuesday said reasonable spacing between children is vitally linked to the health of mother and child.

“Lives of mother and child can be saved through family planning,” she said while talking to a delegation of doctors here.

Population Minister said babies born before time are mentally and physically weak due to which they face problems. She said health of mother is also affected due to repeated pregnancy which sometimes results in premature delivery.

The minister assured that suitable measures were being adopted for creating awareness among the people about family planning to improve reproductive health and lower mortality rate.–APP
