Prof gunned down, wife injured on resistance

An associate professor of Govt Postgraduate College Jhang was gunned down and his wife critically injured by dacoits outside their house on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Mohallah Saminabad, Jhang City when Azhar Sial, Associate Prof Statics and his wife Misbah Kaneez, Head Mistress Govt Girls High School Malohana Morr, were returning from somewhere.
The Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association Jhang has announced boycott of colleges across the district until the accused are traced and arrested.
As Prof Azhar Sial and his wife reached the street outside their house, some unidentified armed dacoit intercepted them. They attempted to snatch golden ornaments from his wife at which the Prof put up resistance. At which, the outlaws tortured the couple and fired indiscriminate gunshot on them.
Resultantly, both the man and woman sustained critical wounds and were shifted to DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122. However, Prof Azhar succumbed to injuries while condition of his wife is stated to be stable.
The Kotwali Police have registered a case against unidentified accused.
The Punjab Professors and Lectures Association Jhang has condemned the incident and announced boycotted of colleges in District Jhang. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

Man shot dead during robbery

Robbers gunned down a man over putting up resistance at Pindi Bypass here the other day.
Alaf Noor was going on motorcycle when he reached near Pindi Bypass, three dacoits intercepted him and snatched Rs100,000 from him. Upon resistance, the robbers fired gun shots, killing him on the spot. The Dhulley Police have registered a case.
Meanwhile, three labourers received severe burns, as a result of a gas compressor blast in a gas oven factory situated on Hafizabad Road.
It was told that labourers were busy in working when a gas compressor exploded. Resultantly three labourers namely Muhammad Saif, Muhammad Shahbaz and Muhammad Faisal received burn injuries and rushed to DHQ hospital from where they were shifted to Lahore hospital due to critical condition.
