PESHAWAR - The second adventure marathon race from Pir Sohawa to Khanpur Dam kicked off on Saturday. 

Speaking on the occasion, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department Secretary Sports Muhammad Tariq said the KP tourism corporation and the adventure club are jointly organizing this marathon race with an aim to provide the youth an opportunity of adventure tourism and engage them in healthy activities. Besides others, Deputy Secretary Tauseef Khalid, TCKP Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and In-charge Marketing and Media Shaukat Hassina were also present. 

The secretary said the registered youth will depart to Pir Sohawa, Islamabad from tourist information centre located at Peshawar Museum on Saturday at 8 am. 

The race will start from Pir Sohawa and culminate at Khanpur Dam after covering a distance of 23 kilometers via Tilhar, Tonia and Pomala villages, Kerwali Top and Najab Pur areas. There will be 60 teams of the youth to compete in the marathon race that includes, 13-kilometer trekking, nine-kilometer cycling, and one-kilometer rafting. He said that organizing such events was aimed at reviving the tourist spots in the province and providing an opportunity to the youth to exploit and explore their talent in the best possible way. 

He added these amazing and alluring adventures will be hosted by an experienced and enthusiastic staff of the adventurer club and TCKP on an exceptional location combined with a fantastic scenic view. 

Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department Deputy Secretary Tauseef Khalid will be the chief guest of the concluding ceremony.
