ISLAMABAD - Chinese Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs Deng Xijun on Friday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and exchanged views on the Pak-Afghan border management and counter-terrorism efforts.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest including regional security issues with particular emphasis on the Pak-Afghan border management and counter-terrorism efforts were discussed during the meeting.
The visiting dignitary appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan Army’s contributions and Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
Meanwhile, on Friday, General Bajwa visited the Rawalpindi Corps Headquarters where he was given comprehensive briefing on prevalent situation along the LOC/Line of Actual Contact (LAC) and operational preparedness of the formations.
According to the ISPR, while expressing his satisfaction on operational preparedness and response to Indian Ceasefire Violations (CFVs), the COAS said that, there could not be any let up on the army’s preparedness for response against perpetual threat on Pakistan’s eastern border including the LOC/LAC.
Earlier, Lieutenant-General Nadeem Raza, Corps Commander X Corps received the COAS on his arrival at the Corps Headquarters.
GOVT SPEEDS UP AFGHANS ENROLMENT
The government has expedited process of completing registration of one million Afghan refugees by January 16th, 2018.
The government has directed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to also expedite the registration process of un-documented Afghan refugees living in various parts of the country.
Sources said that the Nadra had so far registered 370,000 un-documented Afghan refugees across the country during the last four months. Around 230,000 refugees have been registered in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the process of registration of one million Afghan refugees will be completed by 16th of January next year.
