Shell celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week
KARACHI (PR): To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, Shell Tameer, Shell’s social investment program that enables young people to start their own businesses, in collaboration with the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) Entrepreneurship Society conducted a panel discussion on ‘Entrepreneurship - A tool for social change’.
The panelists for this session consisted of Xiaowei Liu, Vice President of External Relations Shell Asia Pacific, Faraz Khan, CEO – SEED ventures, Dr Sara Saeed, co-founder & CEO – SehatKahani, and Muhammad Waqas, co-founder - Wonder Tree.
The session was attended by the social entrepreneurship society, students, tamer alumni and the Shell team. As part of GEW, Shell LiveWIRE announced the winners of the global Top Ten Innovators competition, with an objective to reward exceptional examples of innovation within new start ups to create a cohort of role models to inspire young entrepreneurs across the globe.
UK-based Aceleron won the top prize of US 15,000, with Revive Eco (UK-based), She’Kab and WonderTree (both Pakistani entrepreneurs) bagged the runners-up prize for USD 10,000 each for their innovative businesses.
National Bank organises beach cleaning drive
KARACHI (PR): National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) recently carried out a beach cleaning activity at the Sea View beach in Karachi. National Bank of Pakistan employees, which included senior executives and other NBP staff, conducted the beach cleaning activity, which lasted for around four hours, and collected over 250 kg of garbage. The activity was part of National Bank of Pakistan’s corporate social responsibility to preserve Pakistan’s eco-system and bio-diversity. All waste material collected from these activities was recycled or disposed of in conformity with environment friendly measures.
Saeed Ahmad, President NBP, lauded the efforts of NBP’s CSR team on this initiative. He highlighted, “This beach cleaning activity is part of our ongoing initiative across Pakistan to increase awareness and inculcate a sense of responsibility for the environment amongst our citizens. I would request leading organizations to join similar activities in order to achieve worthwhile results.”
National Bank of Pakistan has integrated Corporate Social Responsibility in its corporate philosophy. NBP has institutionalized these activities by creating a separate department and has been running a full-fledged CSR Program to bring positive change and improving quality of life of underprivileged members of the society. The prime focus areas of CSR initiatives include education, health, woman & child, special persons, culture & sports, and relief for affectees of natural disasters. These efforts not only helped NBP emerge as a pioneer within the CSR quarters in Pakistan, but have also won NBP numerous accolades in the past.
McDonald’s promotes active, balanced lifestyle
KARACHI (PR): The 22nd McDonald’s National Age-Group Boys Swimming Championship 2017 was organised by Sindh Swimming Association with support of McDonald’s. This was the 8thconsecutive year of McDonald’s Pakistan supporting the event.
The event started on 11th November and concluded successfully with a closing ceremony on 12th November.
The competition was held at International NPT & SC Swimming Pool, PNS Karsaz, with the top 100 participants of age groups ranging 12-16 years competing from schools, colleges and clubs from all over the country.
It is no surprise that McDonald’s, an advocate for all kinds of healthy competition, supports such grand events. McDonald’s has actively promoted athletics in Pakistan so that more people can become involved in physical activities, as they believe that it is the key to taking the nation forward.
Jamil Ahmed Mughal, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s Pakistan stated that McDonald’s will continue its support in providing a platform for competitive and engaging activities.
SKMCH&RC’s ‘Polo in Pink’ festival tomorrow
LAHORE (PR): Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is organising “Polo in Pink” festival in support of breast cancer patients with collaboration of Lahore Polo Club at Lahore Polo Ground, GOR-1. This event will start at 1:00pm on Sunday (November 19) and is open and free for general public. Event organizers have tried their level best to decorate it with all possible entertainments for a family holiday. There will be food stalls, air show of drone air planes, performance of Pakistan’s best drummers “Quadrum” and an exhibition polo match. Medical Director SKMCH&RC Dr Asif Loya and President Lahore Polo Club Irfan Ali Haider will be the chief guests. Agha Steel installs solar powered RO tube-well
KARACHI (PR): Agha Steel Industries has installed a solar powered RO (Reverse Osmosis) tube-well in Jungshahi, district Thatta that will provide clean drinking water to a population of over 5,000 people as well as support the agriculture activities in the area.
This project is first and one of its kind in this area that would provide approximately 3000 gallons per day of clean and sweet drinking water to local neighborhood.
Hussain Agha, Executive Director Agha Steel Industries, inaugurated the solar powered RO (Reverse Osmosis) tube well project along with Ghulam Qadir Palejo, chairman District Council Thatta and local community.
A solar powered RO (Reverse Osmosis) tube well in Kausar-ul-Jungshahi would bring a dynamic change to uplift and develop a healthier living standard for the residents of “Jungshahi” in Thatta.
