Plan to make UET Taxila an innovative institute

WAH CANTT: A strategy has been devised to make University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila an innovative research institute in engineering sector. To that end, 12 new programs at graduate, master   and PhD level are being introduced for the first time at any public sector engineering institute.

“We are following the British model in which engineering scholars are more in number compared to the students enrolled in under graduate program. We have achieved that target at UET Taxila where scholars in MS and PhD programs are almost twice as many as those enrolled in various faculties of BSc engineering”. Said Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar.

He said that to meet the emerging demands of the industrial sector and make UET a centre of excellence as well as innovative institute, four new programs for BSc engineering in Bio medical technology, energy technology, cyber security technology and automotive technology are being introduced. Four programs are being introduced at master level including MSc in Thermal engineering, Metallurgy and materials engineering, product design , development and energy engineering while four programs offered for PhD students including  structure engineering, electric engineering, Computer Sciences and Mathematics.  He added that UET Taxila is a pioneer in the country for introducing structure engineering studies at PhD level.–STAFF REPORT

Edu goals can’t be achieved sans gender equality: Expert

 

ISLAMABAD: Educational goals cannot be achieved without promoting gender equality in the educational institutions.

Executive Director Shirakat organisation Bilques Tahir said this during the certificate distribution ceremony of summer camp students in Lok Virsa.

She said that their organisation is working for the welfare of women and children to enhance their skills for the future development.

She said Shirakt-Partnership for development is a non –governmental organisation working on human rights and women right in Pakistan.

CDA to plant more species in Argentine Park

ISLAMABAD: Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz has said that Argentine Park was developed as token of friendship between the two countries in order to make this park lush green and more plant species are being added.

It is matter of encouragement that not only concerned departments and residents are making Islamabad greener but the diplomats residing in the federal capital are also participating in the process of making Federal Capital lush green, Mayor added.

He expressed these views during a tree plantation ceremony held at Argentina Park. On this occasion, Ivan Ivanissevich Ambassador of Argentine, senior officers of MCI and CDA were also present.

Sheikh Anser said that Pakistan and Argentine both countries are bound in strong ties of friendship. The scope of this friendship covers all aspects including economic, cultural and others and Argentina Park speaks about the friendship of both countries.

He said that for the first time in the history of Federal Capital, local bodies system was introduced and responsibility of development of the city was given to the local elected representatives. He said that transforming the Federal Capital into a modal and lush green city in line with vision of our leadership is challenge but together we all can meet this challenge.

He said that for the first time in the history of Federal Capital private sector have been practically engaged in process of beautification of the city. In this context, different grounds, green belts, parks, roundabouts and other areas have been upgraded and more facilities have been included in these premises.–APP

Mayor directed the concerned formations to make arrangements and mechanism of security so that proper take care of planted species could be carried out.
