PESHAWAR - A meeting to review progress on polio vaccination was held under the chair of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan at Civil Secretariat, here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Abid Majeed, commissioners and deputy commissioners of the province, besides the representatives of the World Health Organization. The meeting reviewed the activities, future plan, achievements, and hurdles faced by all concerned in different parts of the province. Provincial coordinator Atif Rehman briefed the participants in detail about the overall activities and situations regarding the polio eradication in all districts of the province.

The chief secretary asked the participants to ensure coverage across the province and there must be an effective coordination and communication process between the emergency operation center and district administrations.

He emphasized to exchange their experiences, local and modern remedies and case-to-case solutions continuously.

Referring to the refusal cases, the participants were directed that efforts should be made to bring this segment to zero level and covering all the pockets must be the main target of the overall activities and efforts should be made for its achievements.

The issue of migrant families’ children was also discussed with a special attention and it was decided that arrangements at transit points of inter districts, provincials and internationals boundaries would be further improved and availability of polio teams must be ensured at all such points round the clock.
