The war within Vietnam is but a symptom of a far deeper malady within the American spirit.
– Martin Luther King, Jr
O 18th November 1961, JFK sent around 18000 military advisers to South Vietnam. American involvement in the war in Vietnam is the classical example of American imperialism in the contemporary times and has been widely criticized. The commitment to the cause of Vietnam started after World War 2 (officially in 1955) and turned into a full blown economic, political and military intervention in the region. The objective was to prevent Communist domination in Vietnam. United State's fear was premise upon the possibility of communist expansion in central Asia. The first domino had to be safeguarded. This led to mass human rights violations in Vietnam.
