LAHORE - Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122)  Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer has said that martyred rescuers, who sacrificed their lives to save humanity, are real heroes of society and asset of the department.

He was addressing a remembrance ceremony, organised here at the Emergency Services Headquarters, in reverence of a martyred rescuer Noman Abbas, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty in Hafizabad a week ago.

Total 12 rescuers including Noman Abbas have embraced martyrdom in the line of duty so far. Dr Rizwan Naseer said that Noman Abbas has made his parents and his department proud by sacrificing his life. “I salute Noman Abbas, who is the real hero of the Service,” he added. The DG also announced financial assistance for the heirs as per the government policy. He directed the District Emergency Officer Hafizabad Engr Sibghatullah to extend his full cooperation to the aggrieved family. The ceremony was attended by the parents of martyred rescuer and officials of the department.

Scouts visit Iqbal’s Tomb

A group of 250 scouts on Friday visited the Mausoleum of poet of the east Allama Muhammad Iqbal and laid a wreath. Regional Boy Scouts Association had arranged the visit of scouts. Secretary Punjab Boy Scouts Association Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, CEO District Education Authority Zahid Bashir Goraya, Rahat Ali Jafery and Maqsood Chugtai were also present.
