LAHORE - President Dr Arif Alvi has said the government has no plan to recognise Israel. President Alvi, while talking to representatives of different schools of thought who called on him at Governor’s House Lahore yesterday, also made it clear that government was not going to change the blasphemy law.
He stressed the need for highlighting true essence of Islam projecting Islam’s inherited positive, polite and peaceful aspects. The president reiterated that government was determined to guard Namoos-e Risalat under any circumstances. In presence of Governor Punjab Ch Muhammad Sarwar, the president also assured ulema that PTI government was neither going to amend blasphemy law nor recognise Isreal.
The president said that government will consult ulema to seek their help for playing effective role so that Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat and blasphemy laws are not misused. Ulema should fully cooperate with the government to ensure that sacred notions are not misused for creating chaos, aggression and destroy peace in the country. The president said that government was not considering to make any change in clause 295-C of blasphemy laws.
Allama Ayub Safdar on behalf of the delegation assured that Ulema will extend all possible help to ensure peace of the country and will cooperate effectively to make Pakistan a welfare Islamic state.
The president said that the government was not considering any proposal to accept Israel. The president further said that the process of registration of mosques and madarassas will be smoothened and facilitated as per laws so that registration process gets completed soon.
Governor Punjab Ch. Sarwar said during the meeting that government will protect Namoos-e-Risalat and government was not considering any proposal to accept Israel.
Meanwhile , Senior Punjab Minister Abdul Aleem Khan hosted a luncheon in honour of President Alvi at his residence in which Governor Punjab Ch. Sarwar, newly-elected Senator Ms. Seemee Aizdi, Member National Assembly Munazza Hassan and ex-MPA Mohammad Shoaib Siddiquee were also present.
On this occasion, Senior Minister Abdul Aleem welcomed president on his first tour to Lahore and apprised him about the upcoming local bodies system in Punjab. He also discussed 100 days plan and success achieved in the encroachment drive in the province. In addition to matters of mutual interest, success of both PTI senators in Punjab also came under discussion. President Dr. Arif Alvi thanked for his traditional hospitality in Lahore. First Lady and wife of Governor Punjab were also present in this lunch.
