ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (FEPT) has formed a committee to implement the Single National Curriculum (SNC), The Nation learnt on Wednesday.
The committee has also been given the Terms of References (ToRs) to evolve consensus and draft guidelines for implementation of the SNC.
A notification issued in this regard said that in consequence to the meeting of Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training with the provincial education minister, the government on November 13 formed a committee regarding implementation of SNC. The committee members include Additional Secretary, M/o FEPT, Joint Secretary (IC/Dev), M/o FEPT, Chairman Director, National Curriculum Council (NCC), Secretary School Education Department Punjab, Secretary Elementary & Secondary Education Department KP, Secretary Education & Literacy Department Sindh or his representative not below BS-20, Secretary, Secondary Education Department Balochistan, Managing Director Punjab Curriculum & Textbook Board Lahore, Chairman Khyber-Pakthunkhwa Textbook Board Peshawar, Director Directorate of Curriculum & Teacher Education (DCTE)KP.
The notification said that the committee will evolve consensus and contribute towards clarifying and drafting guidelines on the following, Core Standards, it said the term “Core Standards” will be clearly defined in the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) as minimum standards which all streams of education within the province would adhere to regardless of location and school type.
About Inter-Provincial Harmony, the committee will devise a mechanism for streamlining the NOC process so that federating units can facilitate publishers and schools operating in multiple parts of the country.
Making sure that provincial resources spent on teacher trainings and assessments are utilised in a careful manner during the first year of transition whenever a new set of curriculum standards are introduced.
The committee will meet frequently (on-line as well as physically) during the week, so that the Prime Minister’s directive on expediting the SNC process may be fulfilled.
Meanwhile, the ministry also notified that 33rd meeting of Inter Provincial Education Ministry Conference is scheduled to be held on Thursday November 18.
The notification said the meeting is called up to deliberate upon on the following development focused agenda points.
Approval of revised National Education Resilience Plan by IPEMC.
Sharing of development Initiatives of the federal government related to ASPIRE, PREP, RRREP & DARE with the provincial ministers.
Sharing of detailed distribution plan of Hygiene Kits to assess and estimate impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the education sector and their remedial measures.
