ISLAMABAD - Pakistan No.1 Aamir Atlas Khan will take on Simon Rosner from Germany in the first round of the World Open Mens Squash Championship due to be staged at the Salmiya Club and Green Island Resort in Kuwait from November 1 to 7, 2009. Meanwhile Mansoor will meet top seed Karim Darwish, and Yasir Butt will face Thierry Lincou in the first round of the mega squash event. The British Open Champion Nick Matthew from England will take on John Rooney from Ireland in the opening match of the world open squash championship. Matthew is looking forward to his eighth appearance in the World Open since making his debut in the 2002 championship in Belgium. It was two years ago that he celebrated his best run in the event in Bermuda, where he reached the semi-finals. The Kuwait Mens World Open 2009 trophy will bear the name of His Highness Sheikh Saad Abdullah Al-Sabah the Patriarch Amir, and will be presented in his memory. The championship will include spectacular opening and closing ceremonies and boast a prize-fund of US$ 277,500, the largest ever offered by any World Open or World Tour event.
