BAHAWALNAGAR - A drastic decrease has been witnessed in crime as noose around outlaws and anti-social elements have been tightened. The district police have adopted effective strategy to rein in the criminals, especially after the posting of Abdul Hameed Khosa as District Police officer Bahawalnagar.

These views were expressed by notables of the district including former Kissan Board District president Pir Mohammad Husain Bodla, Chamber of Commerce member Sohail Khan, Chaudhry Zahoor Ahmad Ramay, PML-N Youth Wing General Secretary Adnan Asghar Bodla, former Tehsil naib nazim Saith Khalid Iqbal, Inter-Faith Harmony Committee President Maulana Azizur Rehman while speaking at a meeting held here the other day.

They were of the view that the DPO had taken solid steps for eradication of crime which had rendered fruit. They appreciated the smashing of 50 criminal gangs, arrest of 168 criminals and recovery of weapons due to the untiring efforts of the DPO. They also lauded the killing of a hardened criminal Imtiazi Jhandeka who was killed along with his three accomplices in a shootout. Imtiazi was sign of terror and fear in the area and was wanted to the police of three districts. They pointed out that prior to the posting of Abdul Hameed Khosa, bandits ruled the roost in the district and both honour and property of the public had become insecure but DPO Khosa launched a vigorous crackdown on the outlaws and destroyed their hideout, making their survival almost impossible in the district," they pointed out.

They also praised the elimination of street crime and evils of drug peddling, gambling and prostitution which had been unchecked in the Past. They stated that the DPO had restored public confidence in the police and provided them with a sigh of relief through friendly policing.

The notables also lauded the carrot and stick approach of the DPO which had helped purged the department of black sheep and encouraged honest and dedicated officials. They also expressed gratitude to the Punjab Inspector General of Police for posting a professional officer in the district.
