KARACHI - Youngsters from Malaysia and Sri Lanka recorded wins to reach the quarterfinals of their age group events in the sixth DG Rangers International Junior Squash here on Wednesday at the Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.
However, a few upsets were also recorded when seeded players lost to unseeded rivals in boys U-19. Unseeded Abdullah Bashir of Punjab shocked fourth seed Kashif Asif (Punjab) 7-11, 2-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-6 in a 46-minute battle to reach the last stage of boys u-19. In the same event, Ismail Rauf of PAF eliminated eighth seed Mahmood Mahboob 3-1, seed two in the girls U-15 event Fathmous Issadeen of Sri Lanka had easy sailing to the quarterfinal by beating Maira Saleem (Sindh) by 3-0.
