PESHAWAR - Afghan President Hamid Karzai has condemned the attack on peace icon Malala Yousafzai and termed it a cowardly act and a conspiracy to deprive girls of education. In a letter to ANP President Asfandar Wali Khan, Karzai said the attack on 14-year-old Malala and her pal was a conspiracy hatched by inhuman and anti-Islam elements. The attack, Karzai said, was actually aimed at depriving girls of acquiring education. He regretted Pakistan and Afghanistan were fighting against the most dangerous enemy because such elements were also bombing girls’ schools in Afghanistan and their motive was crystal clear. “The voices raised inside Pakistan and Afghanistan and worldwide against the attack should continue. This ugly act is against Afghan’s traditions as there is no room to deal women this way,” he said. He stressed the need for stepped up efforts to rein in such elements.
