PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has formally launched three courses titled; Basic Life Support Healthcare; Advanced Cardiac Support Healthcare and Advanced Trauma Support at the Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, on Wednesday.
He highly appreciated its management for dedicating all the three new developments in the system of medical education of the province to the national award winner student of Swat, Malala Yousafzai. He also announced to sponsor 50 scholarships for the first batch of the entrants.
The Governor highly appreciated the professional competency, dedicated efforts and spirit of devotion of doctors and said that indeed the prestigious educational institutions of the province have produced men of high caliber in every discipline of medical sciences whose expertise and services are internationally acknowledged.
“Our surgeons and physicians are second to none and the only need is that they should be offered latest facilities and equipments in ensuring fulfillment of their responsibilities to the desired level”, he said.
Talking on various points raised by the Chief Executive of the hospital, Dr. Omer Ayub Khan, Training Programme Coordinatore, Dr. Saima Gilani and Prof. Dr. Zafar Hayat, the Governor also stressed the need for more efficient support and cooperation of the international community in strengthening the medical system especially in this province.
The trauma facilities, he added, could not describe the desired requirement and there is a need to take extra measures to strengthen them in all respects. The overcrowded hospitals, traffic congestions, deficiencies in respect of healthcare facilities, he added, demands hectic efforts to further facilitate the people.
Dr. Mariyam; representing young doctors on this occasion, highlighted the life, courage, struggle and sacrifices of Malala Yousafzai and said that she has become hope of the nation while, Dr. Omer Ayub, CE of the hospital, and Dr. Saima, Programme Coordinator, welcoming the Governor, declared that all the three new courses have been dedicated to Malala Yousafzai.
Highlighting the importance of the courses, they said, those were totally new developments in the entire province. The training programme, they said, has been tailored in a way wherein not only the doctors and medical professionals, but common people can also be benefited.
“This is a facility of general nature which if availed may turn the first ten minutes and even the first hour into a golden time in saving the life of the persons suffered with heart stroke”, it was pointed out.
Earlier, the Governor formally inaugurated the newly furnished Cardiac Care Unit at the hospital. He also witnessed a demonstration by trainee doctors as a part of all the three courses.
