KARACHI – The unabated incidents of target killing continued in the City. On Wednesday, three more people lost their lives including two activists of Mutthida Qaumi Movement (MQM).An activist of MQM was gunned down in Shadmaan Town within the jurisdiction of Shahra-e-Noorjahan police station. Police said that the victim namely Shafqat,40, son of Shujat was taking the attendance of sweepers when unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike came and started indiscriminate fire on him. Resultantly, he received bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted the body at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his family. Police said the victim was affiliated with MQM and was posted in KMC as inspector.Another MQM worker’s body was found Purani Sabzi Mandi within the precincts of PIB colony police station. Police said that the victim identified as Bahadur Ali, 22, son of Shamshad was going somewhere when unidentified culprits kidnapped him. Assailants tortured and shot him before throwing his body at the said place. After getting information, police rushed on the spot and shifted the deceased at JPMC for postmortem and later handed over to his heirs. The motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained.A man was shot dead in Qasba Colony within the remit of Pirabad police station.Police said that the victim namely Ali Raza, 26, son of Sarwar Hussain was sitting at his spare parts shop where two armed riders came close to him and sprayed bullets on him. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the way to ASH. The body was handed over to his family after medico legal formalities. Police suspect the motive behind the killing is sectarian. Meanwhile, two workers of the private ceramics limited were wounded when at least four armed men riding on two motorcycles opened indiscriminate firing at the company’s bus on Manghopir Road within the limits of Manghopir police station. The company used to make the sanitary fittings and tiles and the culprits targeted the bus when it was on the way to the factory after picking the employees from different parts of the city. Following the attack, a score of factory workers and residents of the area staged a protest against the incident and also shouted slogans against the law enforcement agencies. Protestors claimed that the company administration was asked to pay Rs20 million extortion money by the militant group. On refusal, militants targeted the bus to compel the administration to pay the extortion money. They said that SHO Shams Zaman was also informed about the extortion threats but he did not take any action. Upon their complaint, police high ups suspended the SHO and appointed Nasir Mehmood as the new SHO of the Manghopir police station. SHO Mehmood said that the police were looking for the culprits involved behind the extortion threats and attacking the company’s bus.
