PTI Islamabad elections on Nov 2




ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday released the schedule for intra-party elections for Islamabad chapter, without giving any specific date for elections in other parts of the country.
“The countrywide process of intra-party elections will be completed by the end of December 2012, by the will of God,” Senior Vice President and Chief Election Commissioner of PTI Hamid Khan said while giving a new date of completion of party elections while addressing a news conference here at party central office.
However, according to election schedule released for Islamabad Chapter, the last date for submission of nomination papers is October 24. While election will be held on November 2. As many as 58,000 registered members of PTI from across Islamabad would exercise their right to vote on November 2 for the election of some 14 office-bearers.
PTI has also displayed the voters lists at party’s official website. Central Election Commission of PTI would entertain objections to electoral lists till October 19, while on October 21 final electoral lists after the removal of objections would be displayed. As per schedule the nomination papers would be finalised till October 25.
Hamid Khan said party has completed the membership campaign in Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan and KPK. He said after Islamabad, intra party elections will be held in KPK, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan respectively.
He said election team for Islamabad headed by Niazullah Niazi and comprising of 14 other members would oversee the electoral process. Hamid Khan said elections of Islamabad Chapter would be the first step towards countrywide intra-party election process.
He said party has closed new memberships until the completion of election process. Approximately, five months ago PTI had dissolved all regional bodies by constituting regional steering committees in all the provinces.
