KHANEWAL - Severn people including six of a family were killed in a road mishap while going with a marriage procession near Shorkot here Wednesday morning.

Real sister, brother-in-law and nephews of senior journalist Muhammad are among the deceased.

According to detail, the marriage procession of Muhammad Khaliq Qureshi, brother of senior journalist muhammad Iqbal Qureshi, comprising buses and cars left for Jhang city. When they reached near Mauza Mehram Sial, about 11 km away from Shorkot City on Jhang Road, one of the cars MLK-3195 rammed into a speeding truck PKA-312 coming from the opposite direction.

Resultantly, Sh Naveed Qureshi, his wife Tahira Qureshi, their two innocent sons - Awais and Hamad, two daughters - seven-year-old Zareena and 9-year-old Nimra died on the spot while driver of the ill-fated car Arif sustained critical wounds and breathed his last in the hospital. Deceased Sh Naveed Qureshi was brother-in-law of senior journalist Iqbal Qureshi.

Grief engulfed the entire locality following the arrival of six bodies as friends, relatives, neighbours and locals mourned the tragedy alike. Funeral for the deceased was offered at old Sabzi Mandi area and they were laid to rest in markazi graveyard Khanewal.

Want outlaw arrested: The City Police conducted a raid and arrested a criminal involved in murder case and recovered illicit weapons from him.

On a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and arrested Liaqat alias Odd, a resident of Kartarpura who had been involved in a murder case of Khalid alias Kaka a resident of Yaqoobabad Dakhli.  The police also recovered a 30 bore pistol and bullet from him.
