LAHORE – A World Bank delegation paid a visit to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and called on Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha on Wednesday.

The delegation comprising Senior Agriculture Specialist Muhmmad Raiz and Dairy Consultant John JM Bonnier discussed with the vice chancellor the prospects of initiating joint projects in the livestock and related sectors.

The World Bank representatives said that they were interested in the uplift of the dairy and meat sectors in Pakistan. For that purpose, they proposed a project on meat value chain and desired collaboration with the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

The vice chancellor told the delegates that the meat industry in Pakistan was lagging behind because of unavailability of beef breeds. He said that the red meat industry would grow if meat export to neighbouriong countries was expanded.
