MARDAN - Two students sustained injuries when three student groups clash with each other with sticks and also exchanged gunfire in Government Post Graduate College (GPGC) here on Friday, college sources said Friday.
The sources said that the activists of Watan Pal Student's Federation (WPSF), a student wing of Qoumi Watan Party (QWP), including Attaur Rehman, Jan Mohammad and former students Nasir Afridi, member of Pakhtoon Students Federation (PSF) Abass Khan, former students Saed Sangar and Zahoor Khan and Asad Khan and member Insaf Students Federation (ISF) Abdur Raziq and other students exchanged harsh words with each other over some issue and allegedly started beating each other with sticks. They also opened fire on each other.
Two activists identified as Nasir Afridi and Saeed Sangar sustained critical injuries in the incident. The injured students were shifted to district headquarters (DHQ) hospital from where they were discharged after first-aid. The students also broke the furniture of the college.
Fayaz Ali Shah, Principal of the college, while talking to The Nation said, "Outsiders and former students are the main problem creators in the college."
In this connection, he said, a jirga of elders of the city arranged a meeting with him and he told them that they should take the responsibility of the outsiders so that they will not enter the college in future and should not create problem in the peaceful atmosphere of college.
