LAHORE: Save the Children in collaboration with the Punjab Health Department held Race for Survival engaging school children of Lahore to mark the global day for poverty eradication.

The day is marked with various activities in 60 countries all over the world by Save the Children involving respective health departments. In Pakistan Save the Children has related the day with high death ratios among children under 5 years of age.  According to an estimate, almost more than 350,000 children do not reach at the age of 5 due to different reasons involving lack of primary health services and low coverage of vaccination.  The race held in Punjab Stadium was attended by hundreds of people from health sector, NGOs, schools, private companies and government officials. Some 105 children from various government schools participated in the race and expressed their solidarity with the kids under 5 years of age facing acute health problems. –Staff Reporter

Advisor Health to CM Punjab Kh Salman Rafiq, Zaeem Hassan Qadri graced the event with their presence. Dr Zafar Ikram, Additional Director IMNRCH, Dr Fazal Karim IMNRCH Multan, Dr Naveed Jafri, Dr Khawaja Masood, Dr Farkhanda Ather and Memoona Arslan Bhatti from Save the Children also attended the race. Guests of honor distributed prizes among the winners of race.
